What Is Community Solar?
Community Solar allows homeowners, renters, and businesses to easily participate in solar regardless of income, credit, or ability to install a solar array on their own property.
Community Solar farms are built on an open field of unused land and pump electricity into the local utility grid. Members of the community can subscribe to the project and receive bill credits on their electric utility bill.
Community Solar plays a very important role in New York State's goal of having 50% of the State's electricity generated by renewable energy sources by the year 2030.
- No Upfront Costs or Installation Fees
- No Income or Credit Requirements
- No Panels on Your Roof or Property
- No Maintenance Required
Protect Yourself Against Rising Energy Prices
Going Solar allows you to stabilize your electric bill while protecting you against unpredictable energy rates. A Community Solar subscription locks you into a long-term or short-term rate, depending on your plan, and allows you to take control.
